Dual Guardian Excerpt

"We are not weak but watching you move the earth made me realize we needed you to complete our circle. Unlike other males we have never wanted a female who stayed home. Can you imagine the three of us on the battlefield?"
"I cannot deny that my coyote is jumping around and wagging her tail right now." She lowered her glass and stared sadly into the fire. "She knows you both are her mates but my human side is telling me to wait until the threat has been removed from the pups. If something were to happen to me I wouldn’t want to take you both down with me."
Ryan narrowed his eyes. "You are planning to sacrifice yourself if you have to."
"No," she whispered as she looked away.
"If you are going to lie at least look at me," Ryan growled and pushed himself to his feet. "You will do no such thing. Do you know what that will do to us? We would both die before we allow you to put yourself into harm's way."
"If I have a chance to save the pups, I have to take it." She refused to look at him but focused on a spot behind his head. "There's no way I am going to sit around doing nothing."
"You don't have to do nothing. Didn’t you hear anything I just said?" He walked over to the fireplace and stared down at the flames. "We could become a fighting unit better able to protect the pups."
"I don't want to mate because of the pups." She looked toward Gregory, pleading with her eyes. "If something should happen to me I want you both to be able to take care of them."
Gregory held up his hands. "Female, you know not what you ask. If something happened to you, we would have to follow you into the next life. How can we allow our mate to face an unknown world?"

A retelling of Beauty & the Beast

I dare readers to pick up any work by Paulina Woods and NOT be intrigued by the worlds she builds and the characters she creates!
